The Illinois African Violet Society, Inc. was organized on May 21, 1955, incorporated on September 17, 1955, and affiliated with AVSA (African Violet Society of America) on January 16, 1956. The membership consists of individual members and affiliate clubs.

The Society meets twice a year at various locations throughout the state, mostly in the northern third. Each spring we hold our convention, along with an AVSA-judged show. Each fall we have a one-day meeting, including a luncheon and an informative program.

Our magazine, African Violet Leaves, is published four times a year, with articles on growing and showing, as well as IAVS business.
